route:Tbilisi-Borjomi-Green monastery -Rabati -Tbilisi
(425 km)
Excursion starts with visiting Green monastery - This monastery is from the 9-10th centuries and was built by Christophore and Tevdore – the apprentices of the outstanding religious figure in Georgia – St. Grigol of Khancta.
The church consists of three basilicas and a bell-tower, where one can still see typical ornaments of Georgian stone-carving. The monastery has experienced numerous attacks by various enemies, the trace of which is still visible as a marvelous miracle – there still exist spots of blood of the martyred monks on the stones in the brook that flows by the church. Time and the current of water have not had the power to remove the spots. These are the most sacred aspect of the cloister.
after that yo will walk in the Borjomi park and you will have opportunity to drink well known Borjomi from natural spring, then drive to center of Samckhe region Akhalcikhe and visit Rabati castle - with its multicultural architecture, is well worthwhile. This district is on a hill on the north side of the Potskhovi, just west of the bridge. Rare examples of darbazi (traditional Georgian houses) cluster around the castle, which was built in the 12th century and houses a mosque from 1752 and the ruins of a medrese (Islamic school). The rabati also has a synagogue, an Armenian church and a Catholic church, shops, restaurant, main tower, small pools, fountains and fantastic views for taking photos.
